8 March 2012

I finally arrived in Chengdu in the morning roughly 3am, I was freezing like a person in the north pole. The wind was just cold and blowing at all of us and drying us out to our deaths. The Chinese teachers from SACVT kindly welcome us in to their school after we had a long 2 hour bus ride from the airport to their school. We settled down in the hostel in the school campus being very tired and slept for hours till afternoon. During lunch, I have tasted several wonderful dishes that are new to me like beef ramen and their special potato fried rice.

Once lunch is over, all of us attended their welcoming ceremony with their director of their school as host whom gave a long speech about their history and wishing us the best of luck with our studies and health. We gave an astounding applause but ironically, those non- Chinese educated students still clapped their hands as if they understand what they were hearing. That’s very funny and weird with a little of interesting. The strangest experience I had here was the dinner I had as feast, the thing is that the Chinese here traditionally will order a 20 course meal to their guests and not hoping for us to finish all of it. True enough that none of us can even finish it and the table of dishes appear like they were not even touched and they will throw all away, it is so wasteful!!
