7 April 2012
Today is Saturday. We worked our butts off the whole morning and afternoon, we continued our research and produced our research papers for Chee Seng to view and got his feedback.
He was a little unhappy about mine because he found a few stuff missing in my research paper.
He pointed out that my First Foreign Plant info lacked about success and my First Foreign Partnership was wrong. I went to research again and edited my research paper.

In the evening, we planned a special event with our China friends. First we met our friends Xiao Jie, Lu Lu, Quan Yong, Liu Jiao and Qiu Lei downstairs our dorm. The 11 of us went outside school to the nearby town to have our dinner. We ate at the same restaurant where Praashant’s birthday was held but we had a dine in.
We were given a special table inside a room and served an 11 course meal, it consists of Gong Bao Ji Ding, Ma Pou Tofu and other Si Chuan delicacies.
After the fine dining, we went to KTV to spend our night away singing karoke and popping bottles of beer. We sang Chinese pop and English raps until 10pm, at that moment Chee Seng ordered a big cake to celebrate our eternal friendship and each was given a big slice. The cake was great, creamy and fresh out of the oven!!

We Singapore students treated them to show our appreciation because a few days later we are leaving China and this was our farewell party. Friendship must be gained not bought over, this was true friendship.

The 5th week and 5th day, there were no lessons conducted so our group continued our research for our IS project. We spent hours on the computer in the afternoon but we decided to take a break. However, Doyle came into our room in a hurry to ask us to go to the dancing block to have a meeting with one of the local teachers. Next, most of us turned up for it and the teacher was there waiting for us.
We sat down and started talking, he raised up certain questions like our stay here, the local students behavior and China’s overall.
Also, we also told him about the lack of water supply at our dorms. He replied that this couldn’t really be helped because he knew that we were from a highly developed country and stayed in a developing country. Moreover, he told us to be prepared for the worst and must not have high expectations even if one fine day that we might work here in China or other countries.
We also discussed on how to improve the time table so as to avoid crowds during weekends when we visited the tourist attractions like E’Mei Mountain and Du Jiang Yan.
It was tough also because we do not wish to study on Sundays when our teachers rearranged it.
After the meeting, we continued doing our project and our dinner was BBQ food outside school. It tasted so good, the mushrooms, pork, chicken and beef yet still reasonably priced.

After our dinner we continued with our project all night long.

5 April 2012
A fun Thursday, this was when we shop till we drop. We went Chengdu to do our shopping and our first place we went was Paradise Plaza. Paradise Plaza has sports outlets like Nike and Adidas, casual wear, arcade, hobby shop, fast food restaurants and not to mention a theme park.
Unfortunately, we were not able to play in the theme park as there was not much time but we rather use that time to shop around. I manage to find a shirt that I liked from Levi’s which was orange saying “Party all night after 10pm”.

I was also tempted to buy a gundam which I like very much which was named Justice Gundam but I worry that if I buy it, I may lose some of the parts in China and unable to fix it up properly.
The last place we went was Chengdu city area which was similar to Singapore’s Orchard Road.
We first went straight to a food court but nothing impressed me so I decided to go with Fu Dian and Yat Ming to order Subway and we ate along the way because we have only 2 hours for shopping.
We 3 went shop after shop to try on some clothes and I bought a bright orange shirt and a purple orange color shifter T-shirt.
At 4.30pm, all assembled together in front of the shopping center and teachers did a head count but Chee Seng, Hakim and Shakir went missing.
However, Doyle received a call from Chee Seng saying that they 3 will be on the bus waiting for us and decided to walk back to the bus. When we got on the bus, they still were not there, this worries the teachers and the class, I then passed Chee Seng’s number to Mr. Nick as he never pick up the phone when I called him numerous times.

Surprise surprise, they were late by 20 minutes and they dared to stroll back but we shouted at them to quickly run to the bus. It turned out that Chee Seng was spending so much time and money for one watch by Sea Gull that he had forgotten about the time. So much for not being on time!!
I did enjoy myself during this shopping experience but I almost exhausted my savings. It is good to shop once in a while where I get to choose my stuff because no one knows me best unlike myself!!

4 April 2012
Wednesday, today was when all students have to present a SOM PowerPoint presentation to Mr. Lim. MOT students did on ships and marine while ME students did on cars. Chee Seng and I were one the first batch of students to present, we talked about rotary engines, explained and identified the stresses and strain on the moving parts of the engine.
We also do need to explain if one of the moving parts failed and what happens next. We two did a pretty good job as teacher was impressed by talking straight to the point, the others were not too bad although most MOT students did the Hogging and Sagging part which kind of bores me.
In the afternoon, the class was a revision lesson where we could practice some past exam papers but Chee Seng told our group to do some other time as our IS project schedule was tight and urgent.
I spent my entire afternoon researching on our topic of cars, my part was about first foreign partnership, first plant and first foreign buy over.
My automobile history partner was Shakir and we tried our best to come up with something to write through research. Chee Seng also added that he wanted my research in the form of a research paper format that we learnt in IS Comiss.
Dinner time, I called Liu Jiao and Lu Lu to come with me, Yat Ming and Chee Seng to a restaurant outside school which we ate the day before. We ordered a few dishes and rather cheap and we treated them to dinner.
While taking dinner, Xiao Jie called us to quickly rush to her classroom as there was a class activity going on. We gobbled down our food and went straight to her classroom, as we entered the room, we 3 were given a special welcoming ceremony.
Then Xiao Jie and Lu Lu introduced us to their classmates and talked about Singapore’s environment like how clean our air is and so on.
The worst part was when the class told us to perform like singing and dancing but I was the only one that danced to the beat as Yat Ming and Chee Seng had no talent. Feeling like a fool, I stopped dancing and ended the song after dancing for a minute and back to our seats.
We listened to songs and watched videos like sand art.
After class, only Chee Seng and I followed Lu Lu to his dorm because we were curious of what his room was like and boy we got a big surprise. Instead of only 2 people sharing one room, there are 8 students in a room and share one toilet only.
His roommate welcomed us and we started chatting about our lives, hobby and many more. We had a great time knowing one another better but the time flew so fast that it was already 10pm and we had to leave so as not to disturb them and get an early rest.
